Huehuetla, Hidalgo ; Mexico is the capital of a large Tepehua district in the Mexican state of Hidalgo, there are at least 80 woman there that continue to use traditional costume. This town is surrounded by Otomi villages but retain its distinct Tepehua character. Bob Freund 11/3/2006

The traditional costume of embroidered blouse, back strap woven black belt with a knotted design to finish it and the white wrap skirt with machine embroidery is now is decline . Among the younger generation no women wears this costume. The red designs are from the traditional quechquemitl which is often worn on the head.
