Santa Monica, Tenango de Doria, Hidalgo is the most traditional town in the municipality. There are hundreds of embroidery patterns and designs use on the blouses. The traditional blouse is still in use; however the quechquemitl (cape) is limited. Bob Freund 10/27/2006

Santa Monica is the most traditional village in the Tenango District. The majority of the women 40 and over wear a hand embroidered blouse and wool skirt with a black band on the bottom and a wrap skirt. The quechquemitl is not seen often but during a town festival I saw both the lace and wool versions of the garment.

I have included here a large number of embroidery patterns found on the blouses for your examination.

There are two types of blouses a multicolored and the one colored blouse.
