I arrived in Santa Catarina form a long up hill drive from Xolotla, Puebla, the dirt road is in good condition for most passenger cars and trucks. The turn down on the road to Santa Catarina is not marks and I was lucky enough to find a man waiting for a ride down to the town. The town itself is located in a valley.

As is my custom in the town I looked for some sort of authority, usually in the government offices, but it was empty, then I found a teacher who directed me to the Rojas family. After we talk for a while and looked at my photos they agreed to let me document their textiles. When I had arrived in town, I noticed that the blouse was a different type of blouse from the surrounding villages and that a women selling fried meat was wearing a simple white quechquemitl. Sra. Rojas was wearing the blouse as she attended customer in her small store in front of the school. They brought out pictures of a recent festival with a good number of women wearing a beautiful red cross stitched quechquemitl. AFTER A SHORT WAIT, BOTH Eulalia Rojas (mother) and Esthiers Martinez Rojas (daughter) emerged from their home in these outstanding quechquemitls and costume. The mother also wore a black wrap skirt but the daughter was wearing a white wrap skirt, I believe that the single women wear the white skirt. The belts were similar to those worn in the town of Xolotla,
