Ixtahuata, Zoquiapan, Puebla is a small cross roads community . A few nahua women continue to wear traditional costume here. We saw this woman carrying her market good using the traditional “mecapal” or head strap .

We were attempting to find a woman that still wore Nahua costume when this lady walked by with carrying a heavy load with her “mecapal” or head strap. Throughout the Sierra and most of Mexico people carry firewood and other good using this head strap. My host called her down and she posed wearing a “tenate” or market basket. Once we got started shooting she enjoyed the experience and made suggestion about which way to take the shots.
