Magdalena, Veracruz, Mexico - Is an example of what a municipality can do with the right mix of will and money. From the moment you enter Magdalena it is obvious that someone was working on the town's infrastructure. All the main roads and paths were paved; most houses had electricity and water. This is a major accomplishment.

The town center is clean and no graffiti was present, typical characteristics of a indigenous area. There are a number of large caves in the township which can be visited once permission is granted at the municipal offices.

Sometimes looks can be deceiving and if you closely examine the two subjects here you can see a difference in the dress. IT turns out that the participant with the stripped belt is from another municipality, but lives in Magdalena. It is common for women to maintain their village dress when they move to another town. You can see the difference between the lace blouse from Magdalena and the cotton pleated blouse from Tequila.
