The day to day huipil has a small embroidered piece on the front and is almost all ribbons and lace. Recently in Mexico City, I saw a woman wearing the day to day huipil and asked her if she was from Jalapa, she was very surprised but said that she was.
Victoria Martinez and her family sell huipils both day to day and gala types. Here she is in a day to day huipil with a close up of Victoria showing traditional way to wear ribbons in their hair.
