I was directed to San Marco by the women in Calimaya that weave the “flecko” of the silk rebozos. The fleko is the unfinished end of the rebozos which are dyed and them purposely left long in order to weave or tie them into complicated designs. San Marcos is a very small community with many women dedicated to the knotting of the rebozos. Most of the work is from Tenancingo since they use cotton to weave the rebozos. Maria de la Paz Lopez showed me how the go about knotting the rebozos. As you might expect there are a variety of designs in this gallery there are examples of hearts and butterflies.
