Las Minas is a Amusgo community in the Tlacochizlahuaca district , the town is small with about 300 people, they weave table cloths on very long looms as well as embroider and make beaded blouses. As they weave, the cloth it textiles is rolled up and the weaver continues. The looms are hand made also and kept in the family many years. It would take two days to prepare the loom before they could start weaving. The dress huipil was interesting in that it was a gauze weave with a floral design the band of arrows above the waistline was unique. When Otilla changed, she also put on a blue skirt to go with the huipil. The paving of the town has been gradual but the main part of town was finished, as was the area around the school and church. |
