  nahuatl_ostiapan13.JPG - Here we see the process of boiling the palm prior to drying and weaving. The towns main handicraft now subsists of weaving palm into braids or "trensas" first they receive or buy the raw material from a wholesaler and then braid it for .03 Mexican centavos a meter.. So when you buy a hat for 10 pesos ( .90 us cents) imagine the weaving that went into it.
