Tehuantepec is large Zapotec town on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. It is in transition to more modern town.

Tehuantepec is located on the international highway in the south of the state of Oaxaca. The geographic area is the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. It is coastal plain, hot and humid.		 1tehuana1
In 1994 during the parade for the Guelegetza festival I was able to film a great number of young Tehuana ( Zapotec) women as they passed by. They would through candy and fruit to the crowd. 		galahuipil
This Tehuana huipil is embroidered on velvet with cotton thread. The skirt has a machine made cotton lace fringe along the bottom. 		galahuipil3
