Toxtla is a small Nahua community in the Acaxochitlan district of Hidalgo, Mexico. There are just 2 women that still wear traditional clothing. The embroidered blouses are now bought in Santa Catarina.

Toxtla, Acaxochitlan, Hidalgo – This small Nahua village is on the downhill road which goes to Santa Catarina. While investigating Santa Catarina I passed through there and asked around near the church if any one still wore traditional costume. The owners of the family store next to the church sent me up the hill to look for Dona Rosa. After a bit of roaming around I found the home where she lived and was able to convince the family that it was important to include the village in the study and that I would return with a photo. ( which I have already delivered) The costume is similar to that of Santa Catarina; however Maria Rosario Romero no longer had a quechquemitl.
