Nauzontla, Puebla Mexico is a clean and growing municipality. The Nahua speakers here have all but lost their traditional attire except for the women over 70. Some young women wear traditional blouses along with modern dress. ©Robert Freund 2007 12/17/2007

Nauzontla is a municipal capital on the Inter Serana highway, there remains a large minority of people that speak Nahuatl here. Over the past three year I have visited the town and have seem the progress in the infrastructure of the town. During this visit ( 12/2007) the government agencies were handing out “dispensas” a box of food basics. For that reason I was able to see about 10 women from Nauzontla that continue to wear traditional attire. The basic embroidered blouse, white skirt with pleats red back strap woven belt and reboso.
