Copaltitla, Magdalena, Veracruz – This community is adjacent to the municipal capital of Magdalena. Again all the main streets in the municipality are paved. We stopped to talk to a young girl wearing the most modern cloths you can imagine in one of there villages. She got her cousins to take up a path to the home you see pictured here. After some discussion, there was general agreement that we could proceed. As often happens as soon as one person gets there picture taken and the see the image on the digital screen, others want to participate.
Only the younger generation here spoke Spanish and with the help of the cousins, I was able to get these wonderful shots, showing the variety of blouses worn here in the town. The blouse with the red pleated trim really stands out. It is sometime inappropriate to admire directly the blouses people are wearing, it could seem like envy. Envy is not a good thing and should be avoided. One approach I use is to ask if the person made the blouse and then say is well made. This goes along well with the indirect nature of things in the villages.
